Who Needs a Boater Safety Certificate?

Under the new regulations, all individuals born on or after January 1, 2005, are required to obtain a Boater Safety Certificate to operate a motorized vessel on Massachusetts waters. This includes personal watercraft (PWC) such as jet skis.​

How to Obtain the Certificate

To obtain a Boater Safety Certificate, individuals must complete an approved boating safety course.
